Following successful scientific meetings (Melbourne 2011, Queenstown 2014 and Gold Coast 2017) we introduced a "Movement Disorder Therapeutics Practical Workshop" in October 2016, Sydney. Our target audience was the neurology trainee and a faculty of leading MDSANZ speakers supported by movement disorders nurses covered issues such as starting out with these new therapies, patient selection, objective assessment to assist with selection, hands-on management of infusion pumps and DBS programmers, care of a patient already on an advanced therapy and troubleshooting. The aim was for delegates to be comfortable with these therapies and to attract trainees to subspecialty movement disorders practice. The meeting was oversubscribed and well received, with generous support from Pharma and Device company sponsorship.
Based on this overwhelming success we invite you to register for the second MDSANZ Movement Disorders Therapeutics Practical Workshop on the weekend of 15-16 September 2018 at the AMREP Education Centre, Alfred Hospital, Melbourne.
This workshop will include three half-day sessions on Parkinson's disease infusion therapies, Deep Brain Stimulation and functional neurosurgery for movement disorders, and botulinum toxin. The scientific program can be found here and is being convened by Dr Kelly Bertram.
We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne in September 2018.
